How to make a birthday Trail
A walk through the places that matter, with something waiting at each. Cake at the end. Guard the cake.

A birthday Trail is a series of places, each one opening the next, ending somewhere with people and cake. It takes about an evening to make and gets talked about for years.
Choose four to six stops
Fewer than four feels like errands. More than six and someone gets tired and sits on a wall. Places should mean something to them, not just be pretty.
Put something small at each
- A voice note from someone who can’t be there.
- An old photo, taken at that exact spot if you can manage it.
- A clue to the next place, vague enough to be fun, clear enough to not cause a fight.
End with everyone
The last stop should open only when everyone’s there together. That way the birthday person walks in to find the whole group, and the group gets to watch them walk in.
Assign a cake guard
This is not a joke. Please read what happened last time.
Made you want to go somewhere?
