Why we’re building Togra
Social media got very good at keeping people on screens. We’re building one that gives you a reason to go somewhere.

Think about the last thing a friend sent you that made you stop. A photo, a voice note, a joke only the two of you get. It arrived, you smiled, and a minute later it was somewhere under forty other things.
Now imagine it had been waiting for you at the place it was about. The café where it happened. The beach you go back to every June. The corner where the joke started. You’d have had to go there to open it, and you would have.
What Togra is
Togra is a social network built around real places. You can message friends, post, follow people and join Circles, the way you’d expect. And you can leave photos, videos, voice notes and messages at real places, for one person, a few friends or anyone who gets there. Some only open when the right people arrive. Some open when a whole group is there together. Some lead to the next place, and the next.
Being there means something.
What Togra is for
- The best moments happen in real places, so a social network should be built around them.
- Togra shows where things are, never where people are.
- Everything you do with friends should be free, in every city.
- People should come back because a friend left them something, and for no other reason.
Where we are
We’re building Togra right now, in Nairobi, for people everywhere, and it’s coming to iPhone and Android. You can see what’s first and what comes after on our roadmap, and this blog is where we’ll tell you how it’s going, including the parts that go sideways.
Created in Nairobi. Designed for the world. See you out there.
Made you want to go somewhere?
